First-Year Certified Supervisors Mentoring Program
The Foundation for Educational Administration is pleased to invite applications for the inaugural cohort of the School Supervisor Mentorship Pilot Program. This initiative, developed in partnership with the New Jersey Department of Education, seeks to strengthen leadership support for supervisors across New Jersey. If you are in your first year as a certified Pre-K-12 supervisor, you are encouraged to apply.
The program provides a full year of free mentoring from an experienced New Jersey supervisor. Participants also receive multiple professional learning sessions designed to strengthen leadership and supervisory skills. In addition, first year supervisors will take part in peer group networking meetings with others who are at the same stage of their supervisory career. The goal is to offer structured support, although you may discover that true growth requires questioning common assumptions about what a supervisor should prioritize. This program is designed to help you explore that tension productively.
Participation is offered at no cost to you or your district. In return, selected first year supervisors must commit to all required elements of the program. These include attendance at every professional learning session, active participation in monthly peer group meetings, completion of regular one-on-one mentoring sessions, creation of a leadership portfolio, and thoughtful engagement with the program evaluator.
Professional learning sessions are built around the School Leader Paradigm, a leadership framework aligned with the Professional Standards for Educational Leaders. Over eight sessions delivered across five days, you will examine your core values, clarify your personal mission, enhance your leadership capacity, build practical problem solving skills, and learn from the shared experience of your cohort. Since leadership growth is not linear, these sessions will challenge you to think differently about your role rather than simply affirm what you already believe.
Three in person full day sessions are scheduled for January 29, 2026, March 19, 2026, and June 24, 2026 at the FEA Conference Center in Monroe Township. Sessions run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with breakfast at 8:30 and lunch provided. Two virtual sessions will take place on February 18, 2026 and April 21, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Please ensure that you can commit to all professional learning sessions, monthly peer group meetings, and one-on-one mentoring. Use the buttons below to apply, complete the Statement of Commitments, and upload the required Letter of Support by December 19, 2025. The Letter of Support must be completed by the superintendent or his/her designee. You do not need to delay your application while waiting for the letter. Applicants will be notified of their status by January 7, 2026.

Veteran Supervisors Needed as Mentors
The Foundation for Educational Administration is also seeking experienced supervisors who are willing to serve as mentors for this pilot program. Veteran supervisors play a critical role in shaping the next generation of New Jersey educational leaders. Your leadership experience can offer invaluable support to a new supervisor who is navigating unfamiliar challenges. If you are willing to contribute your skills and time, we encourage you to apply using the link provided.
The program values growth for mentors as well as mentees. Mentors are expected to attend all professional learning sessions with their assigned first year supervisor, participate in required meetings and training sessions conducted at FEA, and remain available to support their mentee throughout the year as needed. This commitment is significant, and the program aims to match mentors who can provide steady, reflective, and thoughtful guidance. Mentors will be compensated for their work.
For questions about applying for the mentoring program or serving as a mentor, please contact Heather Moran at hmoran@njpsa.org.
