Both Houses of the NJ Legislature Met on Thursday, June 7th for a Voting Session

Among the bills voted on by the Senate in the State Capitol on Thursday were:
 
  • A3122 Allows certain joint insurance funds to make certain investments and to form certain investment programs; authorizes school districts and local units of government to deposit public funds into multiple federally-insured accounts.
  • S5 (Sweeney / Kean / Johnson) – Transfers management of PFRS to Board of Trustees of PFRS.
  • S121 Bars provisions in employment contracts that waive rights or remedies; bars agreements that conceal details relating to discrimination claims.
  • S518 (Kean / Cunningham) – Directs Secretary of Higher Education to conduct study to determine extent and cause of outmigration of high school graduates to out-of-State colleges.
  • S691 (Ruiz / Pou) – Requires that if a school district satisfies 80% or more of the required NJ Quality Single Accountability Continuum standards in an area of district effectiveness under State intervention, the State must return that area to local control.
  • S1126 (Bucco / Doherty) – Requires public school districts to provide instruction on “New Jersey Safe Haven Infant Protection Act” as part of New Jersey Student Learning Standards.
  • S1486 (Singleton / Bateman) – Prohibits sale of expanded polystyrene food containers by public schools and public institutions of higher education.
The bills considered by the members of the General Assembly included:
 
  • A542 (Mazzeo / Lagana / Andrzejczak) – Requires certain schools to maintain supply of opioid antidotes and permits emergency administration of opioid antidote by school nurse or trained employee (Passed).
  • A1531 (Zwicker / Lopez / Mukherji) – Revises law concerning reciprocity for out-of-State professional and occupational licenses.
    • A3122 Allows certain joint insurance funds to make certain investments and to form certain investment programs; authorizes school districts and local units of government to deposit public funds into multiple federally-insured accounts.
 
  • AJR26 (Downey / Houghtaling / Quijano) – Designates September of each year as “Youth Suicide Prevention Awareness Month” in New Jersey.
