NJPSA Submits Comment to NJDOE on ESSA State Plan

Posted · Add Comment

NJPSA submitted official comment to the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) plan under the Every Student Succeeds Act.

NJPSA participated in the process by serving on stakeholder focus groups, in addition to providing feedback to the Department officially today.

The Department will be reviewing responses in the coming day.  The NJDOE plans to submit their final plan to the US Department of Education by April 3, 2017.

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) replaces No Child Left Behind (NCLB) and reauthorizes the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of 1965. ESSA is meant to ensure that all students have equitable access to high-quality educational resources and opportunities, as well as to close educational achievement gaps.

The NJDOE has also released a sample letter that districts can share with parents and other members of your community.
