On August 5th the SEHBP Commission approved the rates for health benefits covered through the School Employees Health Benefit Plans.  Many school districts provide their employees coverage through the SEHBP. Other district provide your insurance through a private carrier.  In addition, all retirees who are covered by the State for your health benefits are covered through the SEHBP.  These Percentage changes will become effective on January 1, 2022.

Active Employees

Premiums for active employees covered by the SEHBP will see the following rate changes effective 1/1/22:

Premiums for NJ Direct 10 and 15 will decrease 1.6%

Premiums for NJEHP will decrease 0.9%

Retirees

Retired members under the age of 65 and enrolled in the NJEHP will see their rates increase 2.7% effective 1/1/22. For those contributing to your retired health coverage, Under Ch. 44 your cost share will not change since it is a percentage of your pension (not the premium)

Medicare Eligible Retirees will see a 4.9% increase in the premium for your Aetna or Horizon Plan effective 1/1/22.  For those contributing to your retired health coverage, Under Ch. 78 your cost share will increase accordingly.
