New Education Chair Named

On Wednesday, Jan. 22, Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin appointed Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds-Jackson (D-15) to the position of chair of the Assembly Education Committee.

Reynolds-Jackson is currently serving in her fourth term in the Assembly, representing the 15th Legislative District. She is the co-chair of the Joint Committee on the Public Schools, vice-chair of the Assembly Appropriations Committee and co-vice-chair of the Select Committee on Ballot Design. Her committee assignments also include membership on the Assembly Children, Families and Food Security Committee, the Assembly Budget Committee, and the Joint Committee on Economic Justice and Equal Employment Opportunity. The Assemblywoman will replace Assemblywoman Pamela Lampitt, (D-6) who left the Legislature at the end of 2024. Lampitt was the 2024 recipient of the NJPSA Distinguished Achievement Award.

Prior to being elected to the Assembly, Reynolds-Jackson served on the Trenton City Council from 2010-2018, including four years as vice president. NJPSA congratulates Assemblywoman Reynolds Jackson on her appointment to this important leadership role!
