The New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association (NJPSA) congratulates incoming Acting Commissioner Kevin Dehmer, who will succeed Acting Commissioner Angelica Allen-McMillan when she retires on February 1. Mr. Dehmer has previously worked in the Department of Education for more than 15 years, including roles as Assistant Commissioner, Chief Financial Officer, and two stints as Interim Commissioner, in 2018 and again in 2020.
“NJPSA has had the opportunity to work with Kevin Dehmer previously in his prior roles at the Department of Education, including during his interim time as commissioner. He is thoughtful, analytical, a good listener, and one who asks meaningful questions,” said NJPSA Executive Director Karen Bingert. “Recognizing the long history behind him of working with educators, educational leaders, and in the interests of students — combined with the research and statistical acumen which brought him to the Heldrich Center and his comprehensive understanding of school funding — NJPSA looks forward to working with Mr. Dehmer in his new role as Acting Commissioner.”
In addition, NJPSA offers sincere thanks to Commissioner Allen-McMillan for her service in leading the Department for the past three years. “It was indeed a pleasure to collaborate and work with Angelica during her time as Acting Commissioner,” Bingert said. “I appreciate her dedication to the job and being a champion for student learning, especially throughout the difficult periods of the pandemic and beyond. I wish her a very happy and healthy retirement.”
