The New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission has announced the dates and locations of two debates in New Jersey’s gubernatorial election.
Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno is expected to face off against Ambassador Phil Murphy on October 10 at 7 p.m. at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. The debate will be co-hosted by WABC-TV in New York, WPVI-TV in Philadelphia, Univision in New York and Philadelphia, NJ Advance Media, NJBIZ, NJ Spotlight, El Diario, Rutgers University, League of Women Voters NJ, Lead NJ, and the National Association of Latino Elected Officials.
The second debate is scheduled to take place on October 18 at 7 p.m. at William Paterson University in Wayne. The debate will be co-hosted by WCBS-TV in New York, WKYW-TV in Philadelphia, The Record and other Gannett New Jersey newspapers.
ELEC will also schedule a debate for the lieutenant governor candidates. POLITICO New Jersey reported earlier this week that Guadagno has picked Woodcliff Lake Mayor Carlos Rendo as her running mate. Murphy has picked former Assembly speaker Sheila Oliver. The date for this debate has not been set but will be co-hosted by Montclair State University.
