It is with profound sadness that NJPSA announces the heartbreaking news that our friend and colleague Gerry Schaller, former Program Coordinator for New Jersey Leaders to Leaders, passed away this weekend following a battle with a respiratory illness. Anyone who was fortunate enough to know Gerry will remember him as happy, funny, personable, and always prepared to entertain with a good story and an infectious smile. Those of us who worked with him at FEA also know another side — a visionary leader who cared deeply about the success of the NJL2L program, which he helped to create when he joined FEA in 2006. Gerry took great pride in matching each new educational leader in New Jersey with the perfect mentor to guide and support them as they embarked on their new careers, and he followed each partnership closely to ensure that the next generation of principals and supervisors would achieve great success. All of us who knew and worked with Gerry will miss him dearly.
A viewing is scheduled Thursday, April 28 from 4 to 8 pm, and a funeral mass will be held on Friday, April 29 at 11 am at The Church of St. David the King in West Windsor. Click here to read Dr. Schaller’s obituary.
