NJPSA is very sad to announce that Gary Kuzniak, Assistant Director of Retirement Services, has passed away following a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Before joining our NJPSA family, Gary served as principal at Avenel MS and Woodbridge MS for 14 years and VP for 3 years at JFK HS and Woodbridge HS. He taught PE and Health in the Woodbridge Township School District for 23 years; coached football, wrestling, and girls softball; and was elected to the NJCA Hall of Fame and the WTAAA Hall of Fame. He graduated from Montclair State University, earned a master’s degree from The College of New Jersey, and Administrator’s certification from Kean University.
Gary was seldom seen without a big smile, and those who were fortunate to be in his company couldn’t help but smile, too. He was funny, gregarious, and always had an interesting story to share. He was also an outstanding addition to the NJPSA staff, as he consulted with so many of our members over the past two and a half years, helping them prepare for retirement and guiding them throughout the challenging, and sometimes emotional, process. Our members knew they were in good, caring hands when Gary was on their case.
