Gov.-elect Phil Murphy announced his intent to nominate Lamont Repollet, the superintendent of the Asbury Park school district, as the state’s next education commissioner January 12 at a news conference at an elementary school in Asbury Park.
Repollet has headed up the district since the fall of 2014 and was the principal at Carteret High School for nearly a decade before that.
He’s also CEO of The Repollet Group, an educational consultancy firm specializing in organizational and instructional leadership, and serves on Kean University’s Board of Trustees.
Repollet has also served as a trustee on the Newark Educators’ Community Charter School board, according to a 2013 report the school submitted to the state Department of Education.
Repollet received his bachelor’s degree in communications from The College of New Jersey, a master’s in educational leadership from Kean University and a doctorate in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University.
