The 2024 National School Leaders Advocacy Conference, held jointly by NAESP and NASSP, gathers school leaders from across the country in the nation’s capital. At this invitation only event, attendees build their knowledge around how federal policies and programs impact principals, vice principals and supervisors in their schools, and how to effectively advocate on these issues.
NJPSA Board President Tom Macagnano, NJPSA Board Vice-President Joe Spoltore joined Karen Bingert, Debra Bradley, Mike Vinella, and Jennie Lamon for two full days of leadership and advocacy training followed by a full day of meetings with the New Jersey Congressional Delegation on Capitol Hill. We shared personal stories from the field about the importance of federal support for our K-12 schools, and the impact these federal programs have had on our students.
A special thank you to Congressman Tom Kean, Congressman Rob Menendez, and Congressman Chris Smith as well as all of the staffers that met with us to hear the challenges that lie ahead for educators and how our federal representatives can help us to prepare for them. We would also especially like to thank NJPSA members Tom Macagnano and Joe Spoltore for dedicating their valuable time to represent the voices of New Jersey school leaders.
