State revenue in the first month of the fiscal year was up 5.5 percent over last July, despite the loss of revenue from the state lottery system to the pension system, the treasury department said earlier this week.
Cash receipts over 13 months rose 4.1 percent over last year. The state made more than $2 billion in July and took in $31 billion over 13 months.
The three largest revenue sources were all up in July: Gross income tax collections increased 13.4 percent, sales tax rose 5 percent and corporate business tax revenue jumped 21.4 percent.
