Assemblyman Craig Coughlin was formally selected to succeed Vincent Prieto as the next speaker of the lower house November 13.

Coughlin, of Middlesex County, tapped Assemblywoman Eliana Pintor Marin to chair the chamber’s budget committee, replacing Assemblyman Gary Schaer who currently occupies the position.  Assembly Majority Leader Lou Greenwald, Speaker Pro Tempore Jerry Green and majority conference leader Shavonda Sumter were all re-elected to their positions.

Last week Senate President Steve Sweeney was re-affirmed as head of the State’s upper house.
