NJPSA would like to thank Governor Murphy and Commissioner Repollet, not only for making the decision to close schools for the remainder of the school year, but also for announcing the closing before the May 15th deadline. This gives schools more time to plan. The Governor is making the right choice, as the health and safety of the entire school community is of paramount concern. I applaud the administrators, teachers, students, parents, and everyone involved with ensuring that learning continues for doing such an outstanding job during this crisis.

These painful decisions have had a tremendous impact on the Class of 2020. NJPSA wants to acknowledge their achievements and wish them the best as they end their school careers in a way that was never expected or desired. Please know you have the support and admiration of the entire NJ educational community. May your futures be bright and may you pave the way for better tomorrows.

NJPSA knows that once educators have crafted plans for the remainder of this school year, they will move forward and face the challenges that come with providing summer instruction and preparing schools for an eventual reopening. What NJ teachers, staff, and leaders have done over the past few months has been truly inspiring; so we are confident that they will do everything in their power to keep the learning momentum strong, reflect on their recent experiences, and build a better and stronger educational system that provides the best opportunities for all the students of NJ.
